Frequently Asked Questions

This is where you will find most answers. If there should still be any questions left, don't hesitate to contact us.

SAILING

Do I need sailing experience to rent a boat?
You can charter a yacht either with or without a skipper. To be able to navigate a yacht, you need a license. If you do not have a license, you can only be a member of the crew and a skipper from our team will be responsible for the yacht and you have a worry-free holiday.
Which qualifications are required to be a skipper?

Under Greek law, two national sailing licenses are required. For those holding a foreign license, usually titled as ‘license for offshore sailing’, we review and ensure the document is applicable under Greek law, along with an official declaration of basic yacht knowledge, which is signed and dated during check-in.

If the qualifications are not applicable, yacht charter is still possible under one of our own skippers.

When is the best season for sailing and how long should a sail charter last?
The season in the Mediterranean lasts from April to mid-November, with the high season being June to August. Prices vary depending on the date you choose and are more expensive closer to the high season. May and September are great months for those who want some peace and quiet in the ports, with the air and water temperatures still favorable. You can charter a yacht for as long as you want, usually one, two, or three weeks. Sailing charters begin and end on Saturdays.

YACHTS

What equipment will I find on the yacht?

Standard equipment on all of our yachts includes GPS with chart plotter, tridata, port guide, current sea charts, bimini, spray hood, motor dinghy, bow thruster, stereo/MP3 with speakers both inside and outside. Safety on board is our priority and our boats have life jackets, safety harnesses, fire extinguishers, EPIRB, first aid and tool box – everything you need to be safe! Each of our yachts has air conditioning with its own generator, as well as a motor dinghy, deck shower, and swimming platform. Our newer yachts have solar panels also, for economical and green energy provision.

If you have any problems, call us on the phone we provide you, and we will assist you (we will give you more details about this at the check-in). Moreover, we also have the best organized and rigorous winter servicing so our yachts are kept in the optimal condition.

Which facilities are on board?

All yachts have at least one toilet coupled with a septic tank, shower in the cockpit, showers in the bathrooms, and a fully-equipped kitchen for the crew, including gas oven, fridge, deep freezer and oven.

The yacht charter includes bed linen, two towels per person, tea towels, dinghy with an outboard engine, LPG and fuel for the outboard engine. If you require any special equipment on board, please send us an email.

Can I charge my mobile phone on board?
Yes. You can use the 12V charger (car charger) while sailing, or plug into 220V in ports. Buy our Stay Wired package to get access to Wi-Fi on board!

CHARTER PROCESS

How do I get the best deal?
Book on time! Keep an eye on our offers page, and follow us on social media. You will automatically receive a discount if you book 6 months or more before departure, or get a discount for 2 weeks on board. We also reward our loyal customers with extra discounts and often have special prices in connection with boat shows. Reserve a yacht now and we will get back to you with our quote ASAP!
How quickly do I have to make a decision?
Once you receive a quote, ask about getting a preliminary reservation. This reservation lasts for a week and it is not binding. If you do not confirm it in one week, it expires automatically and your boat becomes available to other customers.
Can I choose a yacht outside the standard “from Saturday to Saturday” scheme?
It is easier to arrange this during the quiet weeks of the season, but your dates must fit into the schedule. We try to be as flexible as possible and enable you fewer or more days. Contact us for more information.
How can I pay?
On the booking confirmation we send you, you will find the invoice with the bank account number. 50% of the vessel price needs to be paid as down payment and the remaining balance is four weeks (4) before departure (we also recommend that you arrange cancellation insurance). Exact dates are stated on the invoice. If you miss payment dates, we will first contact you, so no cancellation is done automatically. Please check your booking confirmation and all details to make sure they are correct. Bear in mind that you will need to cover port charges and vessel operating costs (water / diesel).
What information do I need to submit before the trip?
When making a booking, you will receive the login details for your booking zone where you will need to fill in your name, passport number, date and time of arrival for all travellers. This information must be received no later than 14 days before departure. We need this information so we can allow you to rent the yacht. You also need to submit information about the skipper’s sailing license if you are not hiring our skipper. If you need a transfer from the airport or Athens, you also need to enter that as well.

BASE & CHECK-IN/OUT

How do I get to the marina and how do I find my yacht?
You can order a transfer to the marina while making your booking or in your booking zone. Once you arrive at the base, kindly inform our base team of your arrival so we provide you with an approximate check-in time and all additional information about your charter. Base information is available in detail here.
Can I get the yacht delivered to another location?
Yes, for a so-called one-way-fee, you can take the yacht from one port and deliver it to another. This way you can sail long distance and avoid sailing into the same ports on the way back. See our optional extras page for fee details.
At what time do I get access to the yacht?
The yacht is ready for check-in after 17:00. Expect the check-in to last from 60-90 minutes.
What does check-in look like?
Check-in of the yacht is performed by the skipper + 1 crew member and member of our base team. They inspect the yacht from keel to mast and check to ensure that all equipment is in place and functioning properly. At check-in, you will also receive instructions on important fuses and operation of the specific model, and will be given instructions about the use of toilet, septic tank and LPG. If you have some unclear issues, please ask additional questions! Once you sign the takeover, note down any damage so you don’t have to explain it at check out. If you detect any malfunctions at sea, just call our service. At check-out you will go through the boat again, and if any damage occurred or you lost any equipment, you will pay for it from your deposit.
Who is responsible for damage to the yacht?
It is always the skipper who has full responsibility for the yacht, therefore we recommend taking skipper insurance. If you hire one of our own professional skipper, he will be responsible for all damages on board. In case any damage occurs as a consequence of your actions, you will need to resolve damage costs with base managers during check-out at our base office.
When should I return the yacht?
The yacht should be returned to the harbor the night before check out (the Friday night at 18.00). Check-out can be arranged on Friday night upon request, as long as there is enough daylight. Standard check-out is on Saturday morning. Obviously, you will have full access to the boat until 09:00 am that Saturday.
Do I have to clean the yacht before I leave to go home?
Good news for those who are used to going on a camping holiday! No, you do not have to clean the yacht before you leave! We kindly request that you do leave the boat in a respectable condition, as it was chartered out. Common practices include throwing out the garbage, cleaning plates and cutlery, and folding linen and towels (please leave all laundry items in one cabin).
